For more than a decade, Nate Fata has been designated as Class Counsel by many South Carolina courts. He handles a variety of class action lawsuits, representing employees who have not been paid benefits that are due to them and advocating on behalf of consumers in overcharge cases. Mr. Fata's class action successes include the following lawsuits:
  • In Re: Heilig Meyers Master Trust Consumer Account Class Litigation, 4:01-4032-25, was a nationwide class settlement of more than 960,000 consumers whose accounts were mishandled by servicers of the Heilig Meyers Master Trust.
  • Bone v. AT&T, C.A. No. 4:96-3527-12, was a nationwide settlement class of residential consumers of independent local exchange carriers who were solicited and switched to AT&T for optional long distance calling plans that were not available through the independent local exchange carrier.
  • Gregory v. TranSouth, Case No. 98-CP-26-1581, involved a statewide settlement class of consumers who were charged collateral protection insurance with excessive coverages.
  • Hammond v. Horry County School District, Case No. 97-CP-26-2563, involved a settlement class of local residents who were subjected to drainage and flood problems.
  • Angus v. City of Myrtle Beach, Case No. 99-CP-26-4559, was tried to verdict, and appealed to the South Carolina Supreme Court, where a favorable ruling was obtained on behalf of a class of taxpayers were over taxed in 1999-2000.
  • Moyd v. Insteel Wire Products, Inc., Case No. 04-CP-22-997, involved a settlement class of employees who were not paid accrued vacation time when the wire manufacturing plant closed.
  • Edwards v. SunCom, Case No. 02-CP-26-3539, was litigated and appealed to the South Carolina Supreme Court, where the case ultimately settled. The case involved the improper charging of early termination fees to approximately 6,000 South Carolina class members.
